So, where to begin. My wife and I will celebrate our 8 year anniversary this year. That's really exciting for me, because our 10 year is just around the corner. If she can put up with me for 10 years, eternity should be a breeze! She is, and always will be my everything. I know it sounds so cliche, but she is my better half. You know, behind every good man, there's a great woman! Ydais and I have had our ups and downs, and I think we've seen each other at our bests and worsts. I'm excited and so thankful to be able to look forward to a lifetime with her, and a new adventure as we journey into the eternities together. I love you, Ydais.
Emily is doing great in her first year of Kindergarten. I don't remember so much drama at such a young age when I was in grade school! Maybe that's because I'm not a girl! Hopefully, that isn't an indication of what's to come. Unfortunately, I think it is. She's so beautiful, just like her Mom. I'll have to stock up on shotgun shells and gun polishing rags. It's neat to talk to Emily at this age, because she truly has opinions on things, and she's really beginning to form her own thoughts and ideas. It's really cool to see her personality continue to develop and grow. It's hard to believe that not too awful long ago, she was Mia's age. She's growing up too fast! I try to remind her often that she'll always be my princess. I'm dreading the day when she's embarrased for me to say that. I'm sure I have at least a few more years to enjoy being able to hug and kiss her when I drop her off at school. Don't know if that will fly with her in Junior High!
Katie is our little busy bee. She explores everything, even if that means she's punished for exploring something she knows she shouldn't! She has no fear, except for any kind of bug or anything that slightly resembles a bug. She'll try anything (excluding most foods), go anywhere, and is truly up for anything. Although she's a handful, I'm anxious to see her inquisitiveness and tenacity mature, and see how she uses those personality traits throughout her life. She's so funny, Katie looks adorable in a cute little dress with girly shoes, and her hair done up! And she looks just as much at home in an old t-shirt, a saggy diaper, a mop top, and dirty face. All that's missing is Dennis the Menace's slingshot. I'm pretty sure she could even show Dennis a few new ways to get into trouble. In all seriousness, Katie is wonderful. She's at a really cute age with learning more and more vocabulary, and beginning to learn letters, numbers, and shapes. She'll be starting Little Hearts Preschool, the same preschool that Emily attended for two years before she started Kindergarten. That will be a whole new phase for our little 2 (soon to be 3) year old.
Mia is our newest addition, and completely understands her responsibility of keeping Mom and Dad on their toes. She's only 6 weeks old right now, and everyday it seems she's developing and growing in new ways. She's become so alert lately. When she's awake, her eyes are taking everything in. She really likes it when I sing to her, and that's really cool. It's comforting to pick her up when she's screaming mad, and have her calm and content in a few minutes by singing a song to her. It makes you feel good, and needed as a parent to be able to do that for your children. I blessed Mia a couple of weeks ago, and it was very touching. One part that stood out to Ydais and I was a section that said that "Heavenly Father wants you to remember that you are a daughter of God, and that you are always His". Very cool. I feel so blessed and privileged to be an instrument to our Father in Heaven, and speak the words that He had for Mia to her. I can't wait to see how her personality develops.
When we can get away from the stress and business of life, we love to spend time together watching movies, going out to eat, and just relaxing. Now, all we need to do is let go of the things we can't control, stop worrying about the things that aren't going to change, and everything will fall into place!
