I'm not a spontaneous person, I think that's true for anyone with kids. So I was surprised when Saturday morning I woke up and said "let's go to the zoo." The zoo for me has always been a place of enjoyment and I'm just thrilled with all that my kids learn. It's one of the benefits of living in Mansfield, the Fort Worth zoo is just a 20 minute drive. We told the kids during breakfast and they were squealing and smiling. We sat down and had lunch just as we got there. Emily, Katie, and I shared a chocolate ice cream cone, we had to have our zoo treats! Katie I don't think really understood until we got there, just what the zoo was about. It was awesome to stand back and watch her excitement. They were literally running to each exhibit, which made it really interesting for Blake and I. Each time we came across an animal that Katie recognized, she would stand up tall and say "I Kate." So as to introduce herself! It was the most adorable thing! The girls each had they're favorite animal that they wanted to see, so we made sure to visit the monkeys (for Katie) and the flamingos (for Emily.) Blake and I were glad that we had made the decision to take an afternoon off and hang out at the zoo. Can't wait to go next year as a complete family, with baby #3!
